Jag var faktiskt inne på att namnge bloggen efter en textrad ur kvällens första sång. Men i slutändan blev Poetry with Blues ett bättre val, än "Feeling so blue".

Willie Hugh Nelson, född i Abbott, Texas, är en amerikansk countrysångare, gitarrist, låtskrivare och skådespelare.
Nelson blev under 1960-talet känd som låtskrivare åt artister som Patsy Cline ("Crazy"), Faron Young ("Hello Walls") och Billy Walker ("Funny How Time Slips Away"), men gav även ut flera egna album. Källa: Wikipedia
En av anledningarna till att jag vill lyfta fram Wille Nelson är att flera av hans skapelser har blivit hits för andra artister. Jag inser att Patsy Cline och Waylon Jennings sångröster var bättre än Willies, men kompositionerna är hans och ingen kan ta dem ifrån honom. Efter andra bidraget presenterar jag en spellista med Willie-sånger.

Sitt stora genombrott fick Willie Nelson på 1970-talet, som en av förgrundsgestalterna inom outlaw country-rörelsen, med album som Shotgun Willie (1973), Red Headed Stranger (1975) och Stardust (1978). Framförallt Red Headed Stranger blev en stor framgång och där återfanns en av hans stora hits, "Blue Eyes Crying in the Rain". Källa: Wikipedia
Många av hans fans tycker att "Blue Eyes Crying in the Rain" är hans bästa, men min favorit är "It's not supposed to be that way" från albumet Phases and stages. En skiva som berättar historien om en skilsmässa.
Låten är starkt förknippad med outlaw-kollegan Waylon Jennings mörka röst, men sångens skapare spelade in den först (släpptes i mars 1974, Waylons version kom ut i juli samma år). Sista versen är ren blueskonst. Missa inte munspelets viktiga insats.

Det finns ett uttryck som går "när fan blir gammal blir han religiös". Jag tror den gode Willie Nelson tog den vägen under 1990-talet, albumet "Spirit" (1996) vittnar om det. Den skivan känns mer avskalad, tack vare (eller på grund av) att det förekommer färre instrument.
